Silver Spring, MD – Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) International President John Costa released the following statement on the announcement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) reuniting with the AFL-CIO.
“The ATU applauds the Service Employees International Union joining the AFL-CIO and its affiliated unions to build a stronger, more unified labor movement. This is an unprecedented time for working people with assaults on workers’ rights, attempts to roll back safety protections, efforts to weaken labor unions as a whole, political attacks, and corporations engaging in union-busting. As a labor movement, we must stand united and more committed than ever to resist these attacks on our Unions, communities, and fundamental freedoms. We look forward to working with the SEIU, the AFL-CIO, and all labor unions to build a more powerful and stronger labor movement to fight for all workers and their families.”
