ATU Stands in Solidarity with Locked Out Canadian Freight Railway Workers

Silver Spring, MD – The Amalgamated Transit Union issued the following statement in support of locked out Canadian Freight Railway workers.

“As the largest transit union in North America, I want to express the strong support of our more than 200,000 ATU members with the more than 9,000 locked out Canadian National and CPKC Railroad Teamsters Union members in Canada,” said ATU International President John Costa.

“These workers, like our members, are frontline heroes who keep our railways and communities moving across Canada. Now these companies are locking them out putting our economies at risk while failing to address serious safety concerns so they can put more money in their pockets,” said ATU Canada President John Di Nino.

“As fellow transit workers, we recognize the need to fight these tactics and together we will not back down. Our Union stands in solidarity with these railroad workers in their struggle, because at the ATU, We Are Stronger Together!” said Costa.
