Silver Spring, MD – In New York City tonight, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz delivered a decisive win in the Vice Presidential debate with Ohio Senator JD Vance reinforcing that Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Walz are the right choice to move our nation forward, says the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), the largest transit union in North America.
“Throughout the debate, Governor Walz demonstrated the long history he and Vice President Kamala Harris have of fighting for working class America,” said ATU International President John Costa. “Gov. Walz, a former football coach, teacher, and card-carrying union member, has proven to be a great leader in his state, investing in public transit, securing universal free school meals and medical leave benefits, and supporting the PRO Act, our movement’s landmark bill that protects workers. Vance, on the other hand, is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist who most recently spread false claims about Haitian immigrants in Ohio and is the lead co-sponsor of the TEAM Act, an anti-worker bill that would undermine worker power.”
This debate showcased the difference between a Harris/Walz focus on progressive policies to help everyday Americans and a Trump/Vance emphasis on their dangerous conservative agenda.
“Tonight, on the debate stage, Governor Walz’s ‘good midwestern commonsense’ and his commitment to building a more inclusive economy was on display in stark contrast to Senator Vance’s anti-union vision to support corporate America and exploit workers,” continued Costa. “With only 35 days until election day, the choice is clear. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz stand with working people, and Donald Trump and JD
Vance stand with corporate billionaires.”
