It was a busy day in New York City, as International President Costa visited Local 1179-New York, NY, to install their newly elected officers and executive board members and then visit our members on the job.

New Officers

At the installation, Costa thanked the Local officers for their leadership. “It’s an honor to be here today with your recently elected officers. As a former Local officer, I understand the importance of their jobs in serving you, our members,” Costa told the members in attendance. The elected officers include President/Business Agent Jose DeJesus, Vice President Edward Franke, Secretary-Treasurer Colando Stokes, and Recording Secretary Angela Stanley.

Costa then visited members on the job at the JFK Bus Depot. Costa recalled his days as a mechanic at Local 819-Newark, NJ, and the changing technology as he spoke with maintenance workers. He also had the opportunity to talk with bus operators in the break room about their jobs and concerns and thanked them all for their commitment and dedication on the job.
