International President John Costa stopped by Local 1091's Union Hall in Austin to celebrate a big win for CapMetro transit workers.
After months of tough negotiations with subcontractor Keolis, and after 99.5% of members voted to authorize a strike if it came to that, Local 1091 reached a tentative agreement that delivers meaningful wage increases, more vacation, and a better work-life balance for the members who keep Austin moving every day.
"Coming to Austin to stand with these members means everything. They took on a subcontractor that tried to shortchange them, and they didn't back down. This contract is proof that solidarity gets results. I wanted to be here in person to tell President/Business Agent Brent Payne and our members, on behalf of the entire ATU, how proud we are of them," said Costa.
