This weekend at ATU’s inaugural Pride Caucus Conference in New Orleans, LA, history was made.

"At the heart of the ATU, we stand united in our commitment to equality, respect, and inclusivity for all,” International President John Costa told attendees. “The ATU Pride Caucus is a vital force in our ongoing fight for justice and dignity, and we proudly support you in your efforts to ensure that every member feels valued and empowered. Together, we’ll continue to build a stronger, more inclusive ATU where everyone can thrive and no one is left behind."

The Pride Caucus serves as a vital safe space where LGBTQIA+ members and allies can come together to share experiences, advocate for change, and ensure that the voices of all transit workers are heard and respected. This milestone is a testament to our leadership’s commitment to diversity and equality. Costa was recognized for this leadership by receiving the Pride Caucus’ highest honor, the Harvey Milk Award.
Thank you to our members, the Pride Caucus board, speakers, panelists, and trainers, including Pride at Work Interim Executive Director Brittany Anderson and AFA-CWA Vice President Keturah Johnson, for bringing pride and joy to our first-ever Caucus meeting.

Costa was joined at the Pride Caucus by International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo, International Secretary-Treasurer Ken Kirk, and our International Vice Presidents from across the U.S. and Canada.
