Last Day of ATU General Executive Board Meeting in New Orleans

What an incredible week of collaboration and action! On the last two days of our General Executive Board meeting, union leaders came together to hear about exciting updates on ongoing union organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, vital research, workforce development, training and education, and communications being done to support our hardworking members. From in-depth presentations on the latest strategies for organizing new workers to detailed discussions on improving contract terms to our innovative workforce development programs and our expanding training programs, every moment was focused on making sure our members’ voices are heard and their needs are met.

“The ongoing initiatives of our International are more crucial than ever, as we see workers everywhere standing up for better pay, safer working conditions, and more robust protections,” said International President John Costa. “The presentations by our International staff were inspiring, showcasing the tenacity of our members fighting to build a stronger union and secure a brighter future for themselves and their families. The discussions we had this week were vital. Thank you to this board for your work on behalf of workers. I’m proud of the work being done by the International to make our members’ lives better.”

While in New Orleans, we were also able to come together with Locals from across Louisiana to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable work being done in the South. Thank you to Locals from Baton Rouge, Harahan, Shreveport, and New Orleans for welcoming us to your state.

Every strategy session and conversation has laid the groundwork for a stronger, more united ATU. We're not just talking about change—we're actively driving it. Our commitment to securing better futures for transit workers continues to grow stronger, and with every union leader and member engaged in this fight, we’re pushing forward with even more determination.
