International President John Costa was in Hyattsville, MD, today to fire up our Local 689 Martz Gold Line members on the second day of their strike
“On behalf of our 200,000 members across North America, we are with you in this fight,” said Costa to our frustrated members in calling on Martz to end the strike. “Hold this line! We’ll be out here to help you keep this line going as long as it needs to. Unfortunately, Martz Gold Line gave you no other choice but to go on strike. If they don’t respect you, we’re not going to respect them. At the same time, we’re going to do whatever we can to get you the deal you deserve! So, we’re not going to give up on this line, right? If we don’t get it? SHUT IT DOWN!”
Local 689 President/Business Agent Ray Jackson thanked Costa for coming to the picket line and for the support of the International in this fight. Maryland State Senator Malcolm Augustine also came out to show his solidarity with our members.
