Day two of our historic ATU Shop Steward Training in Atlantic City built on the momentum of an incredible opening, diving deeper into the responsibility of union leadership. Nearly 200 Shop Stewards from across New Jersey, New York, and Delaware returned ready to sharpen their skills, strengthen their solidarity, and raise their voices for the members they represent.
International President John Costa was once again on the ground, connecting directly with Stewards, answering questions, and offering insights drawn from decades of experience.
“Watching almost 200 Shop Stewards come together with such focus, fire, and solidarity reminds me why I believe so deeply in this Union,” said Costa. “Coming from Jersey, this is my roots. I can see myself sitting here as a Steward. This training wasn’t just about learning contract language or filing grievances. It was about building confidence, building community, and building power. Our Stewards are going home ready to lead, ready to fight, and ready to win. Thank you for everything you do for this mighty Union.”

As the training wrapped up, one thing was clear: our Stewards are leaving Atlantic City not only with tools but with purpose. They’re going back to their Locals recharged and ready to organize, educate, and protect the rights of their fellow workers.
International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo and International Vice Presidents Ray Greaves, Jacques Chapman, and Mark Henry also joined the training, adding their experience and expertise.
To every Shop Steward who showed up, stayed engaged, and embraced the work, thank you. You are the front line of our Union, and the future of ATU is stronger because of your leadership.
