International President John Costa addressed the more than 150 Caucus members about their commitment to our Union and fighting for diversity and inclusion in the labor movement, He thanked them for their leadership in our Union’s organizing wins, contract fights, and legislative victories. “I am deeply honored to be here today for the ATU Latino Caucus Conference here in New York City, a gathering that celebrates the unwavering strength, resilience, and unity of our Latino members. We have organized more workers over the past 3 years, we have had more successful strikes, and we’ve won strong contracts and more. Thank you for your leadership to make our Union stronger together.”
 
Costa also installed Latino Caucus officers elected at the meeting. The new officers are Caucus President Luis Alzate, Local 1056-Flushing, NY, Vice President- J. Fernando LeBron, Local 308-Chicago, IL, Financial Secretary Rachel Miranda, Local 1555-Oakland, CA, Recording Secretary Vanessa Perez Local 1555-Oakland, CA, West Region Representative Armando Barbosa, Local 265-San Jose, CA, Midwest Region Representative Rafael Valle (local 1005-Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Southeast Region Representative Ramon Farfan Local 1197-Jacksonville, FL, Southwest Region Representative Juan Espinal, Local 109-Austin, TX, Northeast Region Representative Felix Avila Jr., Local 726-Staten Island, NY, and Canadian Representative- Marvin Alfred, Local 113-Toronto, ON.
Also addressing the Caucus were International Secretary-Treasurer Ken Kirk, International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo, and International Vice Presidents in attendance.
 
Local 820-Union City, NJ, President/Business Agent Pablo Gonzalez received the Latino Caucus' Cesar Chavez Labor Leader of the Year Award.
 
It was an inspiring day, and you could feel excitement and anticipation for the upcoming ATU 61st International Convention.
