Recently, our Local 192-Oakland, CA, and AC Transit launched the nation's first transit-collegiate partnership, Zero Emission Bus University (ZEBU), which will pave the way for innovative training programs for zero emissions vehicles. FTA Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool attended the event. This groundbreaking partnership with Chabot College allows our maintenance members to serve as instructors for the college district. Apprentices will earn college credits towards an associate’s degree. Under International President John Costa’s leadership our Union continues to set the standard for workforce development for the transit industry.
