Yesterday was the final day at the ATU Northwest Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, where ATU International President John Costa and International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo joined members from Locals across the Northwest U.S. and Canada to strategize and learn skills to make our Union stronger.
On day two, attendees heard additional Local reports and discussed trainings to further enhance their knowledge to serve our members. “You have the full support of the International to help you fight,” said Costa. “The more united we stand, the stronger we become. Together, we can ensure that every member’s voice is heard and respected. Thank you for the work you’re doing here in the Northwest to make our Union strong.”
After the day of business, attendees visited the Local 1433-Phoenix. AZ, Union Hall to break bread and honor Local 757-Portland, OR, President/Business Agent Shirley Block after nearly 48 years as an ATU Member. Back at the Local, ATU’s leadership team also met to discuss the impending strike at Local 616-Windsor, ON. Joining Costa were International Vice Presidents Jim Lindsay and John Callahan, along with International Representative Michael Cornelius.
