The ATU is mobilizing for a Get Out the Vote effort for the most important election in the history of the United States.
International President John Costa recently convened a meeting of ATU Local members that will be playing a key role in battleground states to mobilize our members, riders, and fellow union members to elect Vice President Kamala Harris and pro-transit, pro-worker candidates to maintain control of the Senate. Joining Costa to discuss the ATU election strategy were ATU Government Affairs Director Jeff Rosenberg and ATU Political Consultant Clem Balanoff.
“Thank you for doing this important work that will determine the future of our country. I did this as well working with CLCs, State Federations, and the AFL-CIO. I know it is not easy, but I know you are up to the task,” said Costa. “Union members are a key voting bloc in the battleground states, so getting them out to vote will be critical. Every single vote will count. With only 3 weeks left until election day, we will need to work hard, but we can win this one because I know the power of the labor movement.”
Over the next few weeks leading up to election day on November 5, our members and Union will be working closely with the AFL-CIO, CLCs, State Federations, and fellow union members to knock on doors, phone bank, attend rallies, and build crowds for events. The future of our country is at stake and the ATU will be front and center for this election.
