Today at the U.S. Department of Labor, ATU Director of Apprenticeships and Workforce Development Jamaine Gibson attended the meeting of the DOL’s Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA). As a member of this diverse Committee of apprenticeship stakeholders, Gibson is working to ensure our Union and our industry are part of the process of the Labor Department’s efforts to modernize, expand, and diversify the National Apprenticeship system.

Among the speakers addressing the ACA were Acting Secretary of Labor, Julie Su and Administrator, Office of Apprenticeship and ACA Designated Federal Official John Ladd, and others.

Since its inception by President Joe Biden in February 2021 to re-establish the ACA, the ATU under International President John Costa’s leadership has worked tirelessly to ensure that our Union and the transit industry as a whole would be an integral part of the modernization and expansion of the National Apprenticeship system.
