International President John Costa attended the California Transit Works (CTW) Advisory Board meeting along with our Locals and transit agencies from across California to talk about the critical workforce development programs. Among the topics discussed were funding opportunities including our Union’s new partnership with the CTW to administer nearly $10 million in California Workforce Development Grants to transit agencies across the state to train our members in new technologies in the industry.
The Board also brainstormed on strategies to expand the apprenticeship programs. Thanking the CTW, our Locals, and the transit agencies, Costa spoke about the innovative apprenticeship work of this partnership and talked about how our Union is planning to expand this model to other states.
